Celebrate Pride Month 2021 and Eternal Roses
It's almost that time of year again...you know...June...aka PRIDE all MONTH LONG!!!
So wait a second, before we start waving a flags loud and proud, we should take a long hard moment to understand the month of June and it's significance to the LGBTQ+ community.
First off, lets talk about the LGBTQ+ Flag and it's colors (the traditional flag has 6 colors, while there are many other variations of the flag, like the original which had 8).
The colors are...
RED symbolizing LIFE
ORANGE symbolizing HEALING
YELLOW symbolizing SUNLIGHT
GREEN symbolizing NATURE
BLUE symbolizing PEACE
PURPLE symbolizing SPIRIT
The rainbow flag was popularized as a symbol of the gay community by San Francisco artist, Gilbert Baker, an openly gay man & drag queen in 1978. The different colors are often associated with diversity in the Gay community, however they actually have literal meanings
So... Why do we celebrate the month of June with PRIDE?
Quick fact...
Pride Month is literally an ENTIRE month dedicated to uplifting all LGBTQ voices, rights and the actual LGBTQ culture. Traditionally, there are parades, protests, and memorials and celebrations of life for members of the LBGTQ community whom have lost their battle to HIV/AIDS and/or continuing to battle..
It is part political for some, and part celebration for others to show how far they have come from the Stonewall Uprising in June of 1969
